What is needed for good PC recording (answer)
For a really good PC recording, you really need to invest in an M-box 2 which comes with Pro Tools LE recording software. You will also need a good condenser microphone. A very quiet room in which to record, and it is best if you can plug the accompanying instrument directly into the M-box instead of using a microphone to record the instrument. If you don't play an instrument, you could consider getting either Band-in-a-box or Garage Band software to create background music for your song. You don't have to be very smart or musically inclined to use either of these two software tools. Do not try to record without this setup if you want a really good professional sounding recording. Also, if you want good exposure for your song demo, you should get a page on MySpace (lots of music professional hang out there) and acquire as many music pros as MySpace friends as you can. They will help you improve and promote what you upload there. Warning - Don't be in a hurry! Only upload your stuff when it sounds good and you feel it is the very best you can do. Also, you really need to perform your song while you are recording it and sing it with feeling. If you don't, you will sound like any other guy/gal singing in the showeer and it won't come across as professional. Good luck to you! We need more singer/songwriters and by-the-way, it is easier for an independent artist to make a living in the music business today than ever before in history. Go for it!
